GUADALUPE NETTEL (Mexico City, 1973) is a regular contributor to both Spanish- and French-language magazines. In 2006, she was voted one of the thirty-nine most important Latin American writers under the age of thirty-nine at the Bogotá Hay Festival. She is the author of Juegos de artifice (False Games), Les jours fossils (Fossil Days), Pétalos y otras historias incómodas (Petals and other Awkward Stories), El huésped (The Host), and El cuerpo en que nací (The Body Where I Was Born), a novel forthcoming in Spring 2015 from Seven Stories Press. She is the recipient of the Radio France International Award, the Premio Herralde, third place, the Prix Antonin-Artaud, and the Gilberto Owen Short Story Prize, and her work has been translated into nine languages. She lives in Mexico City.
Synopsis
Guadalupe Nettel (Mexico City, 1973) won the Radio France Internationale Prix de la Meilleure nouvelle en Langue Française prize for non-French-speaking countries. For several years she has collaborated with a number of French- and Spanish-language magazines and literary supplements such as Lateral, Letras Libres, Paréntesis, La Jornada Semanal, L'atelier du roman, and L'inconvénient. Recently she earned a doctorate in literature from the University of Paris. Her novel The Guest was published simultaneously in Spanish (Anagrama) and French (Actes Sud). Her collection of short stories Pétalos (Petals) has been awarded the Gilberto Owen National Book Award and the Antonin Artaud Award for best novel. Her award-winning work has been translated into French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Czech, Slovak, and Swedish. She lives in Mexico City.
