Excerpt from Orderly Book: Of Lieut. Abraham Chittenden, Adj't; 7th Conn; Reg't;, August 16, 1776 to September 29, 1776
Abraham chittenden, the son of Abraham and Mary Chittenden was born at Guilford, Connecticut, on August 10, 1751.
He resided at Guilford, Connecticut, when he entered the service in the spring of 1776, being appointed by Colonel Andrew Ward, as Adjutant of his regiment, and he served as such until October 1776, when he was discharged by reason of indisposition.
In April 1777, when General Tryon burned Danbury, he again acted as Adjutant of Colonel Andrew Ward's Regiment for one week.
