Synopses & Reviews
The debut novel from country music artist Jimmy Wayne—a poignant story of what happens when a disillusioned businessman picks the name of a teenager from the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program and how their lives are changed as a result. Based on Jimmy’s award-winning song “Paper Angels.”
Kevin Morrell is a forty-three-year-old husband and father who runs a successful design and marketing firm. Attempting to navigate the crowded mall at Christmas, Kevin is humbled when he stumbles across the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Project. He picks up a paper ornament and is both moved and intrigued by the list.
Why would a fifteen-year-old boy want shoes a size bigger than his feet? And a Banana Republic card? Why, of all the stores, would a young teenager pick that store?
Thomas Reed is the boy on the card. He is still reeling from the implosion of his family—years of verbal abuse from an alcoholic father and a mother who finally got up the courage to leave that man behind, only to find herself and her children penniless and struggling. The only thing they have left is faith, but Thomas wonders why God has seemingly abandoned them.
This is the story about a man and a boy one December—a man whose life is changed by a simple expression of kindness, and a boy who shows the true meaning of Christmas.
