Synopses & Reviews
The coveted Passport stamp - the symbol of the Passport To Your National Parks® program, one of the most successful and enduring customer affinity programs ever to emerge from a marketing executive's desk - has moved from its humble beginning as a souvenir of happy National Park travels to become a goal in itself. Today, more than 1.3 million families own the little blue book that developed into a national pastime, and more than 100,000 of these books sell in National Park bookstores every year.
So successful is this program that there are now nearly 1,500 stamps available in the 388 U.S. National Parks! This collection of Passport To Your National Park Field Guides will tell you exactly where to find them all, extending the pleasure of your travel experiences by taking you beyond the entrance of each park and into areas you might never discover on your own. You'll see more of each park, you'll gain a better understanding of why the U.S. Department of the Interior preserves these natural, historic and cultural places, and you'll come home with a sense of accomplishment and a burning desire to hit the road again as soon as possible - because there are more stamps out there, more places to see, and more two-lane blacktop roads to conquer.
Synopsis
Like the wildly popular geocaching and its older cousin letterboxing, Passport stamp collecting is a nationwide treasure hunt. The Passport To Your National Parks® program is available at every national park, memorial, monument, battlefield, seashore, lakeshore, and historic site in the National Park Service system, including most of its affiliate sites. Until now, however, there has been no guide to help visitors find and collect the estimated 1,500 cancellation stamps. These nine regional
Passport To Your National Parks® Companion Guides tell the exact location of each stamp with directions and stamping tips, as well as interpretive content to help collectors find the stamps and enjoy their national park visit.
More than 1.7 million people have purchased the blue Passport book at national park bookstores in hopes of getting them "cancelled" at each national park they visit. But finding the stamps has not been easy. Parks often place stamps throughout their sites, to attract collectors to remote locations and rarely visited historic buildings. This collection of Passport To Your National Parks® Companion Guides is the only comprehensive set of guidebooks that lead visitors to the elusive stamps they might never have found on their own.
