About the Author
Dan van der Vat is a military historian and journalist who is the author of several books on warfare, including D-Day, The Good Nazi, The Last Corsair, and The Pacific Campaign. Senator John McCain is an Arizona representative to the U.S. Senate and 2008 Republican Presidential nominee. He was a Naval flier in the Vietnam War, during which he was a prisoner of war. He lives in Phoenix, Arizona. Tom Freeman is a well-known maritime artist whose works have hung in the White House, the Arizona Memorial in Honolulu, and the U.S. Naval Institute, which selected him as its first artist-in-residence.
