Synopsis
The man described as "court illustrator to the Beatles," Alan Aldridge, presents his Pipedreams, a unique visual narrative. Journeying through his life and work, from his emergence in 1960s swinging London to international recognition as an author, film-maker and artist, Pipedreams charts collaborations with Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, Elton John, Andy Warhol, Eric Clapton and Tom Ford at Gucci, and represents in effect, Aldridge's "greatest hits."
Alongside seminal and iconic images, Aldridge adds personal annotations, giving unprecedented insight into his creative process and formative experiences, with guest appearances from Picasso, Salvador Dali, John Lennon, Peter Sellers and Francis Bacon.
The graphics include memorable album covers, film storyboards, commercials, much loved children's books, political and film posters, book jackets and enduring logos.
