Synopsis
This book is a great introductory Bible study all by itself - for it brings out the Catholic teachings that are hidden in Sacred Scripture! A famous book - one which received recommendations from 14 bishops when first published and which went through at least 16 editions - this commentary is not a work for scholars; but rather a very practical book for the ordinary Catholic. About the Author
The Most Reverend Bishop Frederick Justus Knecht, D.D., was the late auxiliary bishop of Freiburg in the early 1900s. His massive work, A Practical Commentary on Holy Scripture, was published in 1923 by the Publisher to the Holy Apostolic See. A considerable number of bishops and archbishops thoroughly enjoyed and recommended the book, calling it andquot;admirableandquot; and andquot;excellentandquot;. It was originally titled A Practical Commentary on Holy Scripture for the Use of Those Who Teach Bible History, and was given the Imprimatur by Doctor Mutz, Vicar General, in 1923.
