Synopses & Reviews
This Hebrew poet, known by his Catilian name, Santob de Carrión, lived in the first half of the fourteenth century. Proverbios Morales is interesting as a deliberate attempt to express Jewish thought and wisdom in a Romance tongue, not by way of translation but by means of an adopted poetical technique. In this text, originally published in 1947, Professor Llubera offers a critical edition, giving the text of the work and a full and detailed introduction to it, discussing the author, the work, the MSS., the language, the metre, and variants, with a concordance.
