Synopsis
This volume contains the proceedings of a Symposium dedicated to A.C. Eringen, Founding President of the Society of Engineering Science (SES), on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Society. The full text of 25 papers that were presented at the Symposium are contained in this volume. These papers cover a wide range of topics in engineering science including computational fluid dynamics, turbulence, mixture theory, compressible flow, linear and nonlinear elasticity, plasticity, micropolar media, electromagnetic solids and fluids, relativity theory, and random vibrations. The list of Symposium participants includes such distinguished authors as T.S. Chang, Kazuo Kondo, G.A. Maugin, J.T. Oden, and J.H. Weiner.
