Synopsis
Reinvention will have 10 chapters including: an introduction, tools and techniques, 8 different materials with accompanying projects, and conclude with a resource chapter. Each materials chapter will share how and where to source the fabric featured, as well as tips for deconstruction and care. There will be 25-30 projects with approximately 4 per chapter. Each material featured has its own distinct qualities and the projects are designed to utilize them to the fullest. Side bars with green facts and interesting bits of textile history will be interspersed throughout with gentle suggestions for making sustainable lifestyle choices.
Reinvention will be filled with gorgeous stills of finished projects. There will also be atmospheric shots of items in action, with the backdrop being an intersection of nature and industrialism. This will give it both an organic and modern feel, while visually playing off the idea of salvaged and rescued goods. Maya is deeply inspired by her rural, agricultural surroundings and the pure, but rustic aesthetic demonstrated in today's popular Japanese sewing and home-style books. This look would frame and highlight the eco theme of Reinvention perfectly, and it's echoed in all the major design trends of today. Maya's palette is timeless, yet current.
