Synopsis
A NEW LANGUAGE. A NEW SOUND. Savion Glover has redefined tap dancing, and it can never be the same again. Watching Savion dance, listening to him tap, you can hear the rhythms of jazz and hip-hop, rock and roll and bebop, a corner boom-box rap or a smoky blues. When Savion is "playin' the floor" with the soles of his feet, hoofin' and hittin', he speaks to the world with a power and ease that has captivated millions.
This dynamic collaboration with journalist Bruce Weber features over fifty photographs, a foreword by Gregory Hines, and Savion's story -- in his own words. Meet this extraordinary young artist who has honored the tap tradition while making it hip to hit again.
People ask me, "Aren't you afraid you're going to run out of rhythms, run out of sounds?" Naw, naw. No way. They're everywhere, all the time. That's why I have so much dancing to do.
