About the Author
Emma Curtis Hopkins (1849-1925) is called the “teacher of teachers” of New Thought. She studied with Mary Baker Eddy to learn the mental healing method developed by Phineas P. Quimby and then opened a seminary in Chicago, where thousands of students learned the method and the metaphysics supporting it to heal themselves and others. Her two best known books are Scientific Christian Mental Practice and High Mysticism.Ruth L. Miller served as associate professor at San Jose State University and as Director of Curriculum and Evaluation for Rogue Community College. She was ordained in the New Thought tradition and became the pastor of the Lifeways Center in Portland, Oregon. She is currently a traveling preacher, serving New Thought and Unitarian-Universalist churches in Oregon, Washington, and California.
