With an international line-up of contributors, this book examines challenges to racism in and through sport. It addresses the different agents of change in the context of wider socio-political shifts and explores issues of policy formation, practices in sport and anti-racism in sport, and the challenge to sport today.
About the Author
JONATHAN LONG is a Professor at Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. His primary research interests are with issues of social justice and social change, which have resulted in him directing a suite of projects on the nature and extent of racism in sport. He is also on the Accreditation Panel for the Equality Standard for professional football clubs.
KARL SPRACKLEN is a Principal Lecturer in Socio-Cultural Aspects of Sport and Leisure at Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. He has published papers on sport, identity and racism and his previous publications include The Meaning and Purpose of Leisure (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009). He is an Assessor for the UK Equality Standard for Sport.
