The Stokeses' ingeniously organized, all-photographic, all-full-color Stokes Field Guides to Birds (Eastern and Western editions), which Little, Brown published in early 1996, have been a runaway success -- with five printings sold out and nearly a quarter million copies in print.
The pocket-size Stokes Beginner's Guides Birds (Eastern and Western editions), also to published in 1996, have been similarly successful -- and have returned to press for a total of 75,000 copies.
