A young girl with the unusual ability to stretch taller than the trees flees into a forest when the villagers suspect her of kidnapping their children. There she meets a little boy who is searching for his missing sister, and together they set off on a journey to find her. They soon meet two more extraordinary characters, Swallow and Stare, who agree to help search for the lost girl. Using their unique talents and working together as a team, they discover all of the missing children and challenge the evil wizard who holds them captive to an ingenious contest.
Veronika Martenova Charles has taken a beloved Czech folk tale and given it a modern twist by making the three heroes atypical young women. This beautifully illustrated story of co-operation, courage and acceptance is not to be missed.
