Synopses & Reviews
In 1975, the commission of the European Communities embarked on an action programme to eliminate technical obstacles to trade and to harmonise technical specifications. This included establishing a set of unified technical rules for the structural design of construction works with the following objective:
'The Eurocodes are to establish a set of common technical rules for the design of buildings and civil engineering works which will ultimately replace the differing rules in the various memeber states.'
This objective has now become a reality as a set of ten Eurocodes now begin to emerge from the Comit Europen de Normalisation. It is crucial for the construction industry to become acquainted with the Eurocodes so that advantage can be taken of the opportunities on implementation.
This book introduces the reader to EN1993 and EN1994 otherwise know as Eurocode 3 and 4. The book provides extensive coverage of these new Eurocodes using numerous worked examples and tutorial problems alowing the reader to fully understand the implications of the new standards within the industry.
*Covers all the crucial information in Eurocode 3 and 4
*Uses practical design backed-up with basic theory and extended to current developments
*Provides common understanding on the general rules for material properties, durability, structural analysis and design.
