About the Author
EDUARD BRAU was the Director of the Finance Department of the International Monetary Fund from 1999-2004, when he retired. He previously worked in senior positions in the IMF dealing with the countries of the former Soviet Union, with debt and financing issues in Latin America, and with country programs in Africa. He holds a PhD in Economics from Duke University, USA.
IAN MCDONALD was the Chief Editor in the External Relations Department at the International Monetary Fund up until his retirement in 2001. Before joining the IMF he was Washington Correspondent for The Times of London and an Editorial Writer for The Glasgow Herald. He holds masters degrees from Oxford University and The George Washington University, Washington DC.
