About the Author
Charlotte Doyle, the author of several picture books, came to writing for children in midlife, when a letter to a child unexpectedly turned into a story. Of SUPERMARKET! she says, "When I go shopping, I confess to paying as much attention to young children as to my grocery list. I love their exuberance, their surprised innocence when they cause a stack of jam jars to come tumbling down."
Nadine Bernard Westcott, the illustrator of more than eighty picture books, says she actually enjoys grocery shopping. "When this book was offered to me, I immediately identified with the frazzled mom," she says. "My daughter was a perfect child until she hit the supermarket, whereupon she would automatically self-destruct!"
