Synopsis
A farm boy, a refugee from an enemy planet, and their friends aren't supposed to amount to much, but war is declared and changes everything; especially what a poor boy ends up doing and what he expects of himself. The solar system of Luckinom has broken out into a 'civil' war: its two inhabited planets trade political philosophies and bombs. "Must you reduce everything to the most vile equation that you can come up with, Father?" "I just tell the truth that's all. A poor refugee boy should know the truth and the only people who tell the truth are half dead old men (who aren't afraid of anybody anymore) and little children who don't know any better." ******* " Don't you know that everybody hates Abing?...The Cadets who were here during the school break all call him Weep-Abing and Craze-Abing."****** "So is this what military school is about? Not giving somebody who's been spooked by his military father's murder, a chance?" *******"He had better technology. Better technology is harder to argue with. It was soon to be a fact that couldn't be hidden by any war propagandist who was smart enough to know when to stop lying." ******* "What makes you think that mere size of territory alone decides who rules a world? A deep male voice boomed in the background. There stood Master Shra' Drackintar, the father of Mitt and Trina. He continued, "Tell me Trina. Making such an absolute statement about the Book of the planet of Wrath, just a bunch of lies as you put it, you should be able to defend the idea that size of territory alone makes an empire." "Oh Dad it's all so stupid " Trina whined, "You stick all the earthling history together and you've got some (Yankee Doodle) pony rider looking for dirty feathers to put in his hat while he wonders if he exists or not " *******"I spent some time of late coming to the aid of a wounded crew member. Our freedom is linked together, his loss is mine and so was his victory of being a useful part of the crew. I miss you and the boys so much. We are stretched and made lonely by war but not broken. You are crew too, and I am your crew..." *******"The Opays are used to wielding power. They are used to spinning the wheel of time with blood, money, and sometimes the truth..." *******"The Rups don't know that they're seen as space pirate slavers with the morality and greed of beach monster worms.....The Rups think they are secular progressives, first-contact-holy men, or both." *******"Do you think we would waste good poisoned tea and a bodybag on you when we are in outer space? I could just throw you out the window to erase you from this life." *******"The prey should not know where the preditor hides." ******* "The Opsakolanders weren't the only pirates ever to outsmart anybody."Dear Earthlings (if you still exist) this is Capt. Regineh, current president of the Green Beings Defence League of Tin Mirland. We do not use our superior time travel and weaponry capabilities to fly across the universe and stick probes up your backsides. We have no idea why you are obsessed with your bodily orifices to such an extent and we have no idea what happens to you when you sleep. Perhaps there's been a mistranslation. Maybe you sent voyager probes up the backside of something, perhaps a wormhole. If so, continue to send voyager probes up your own backside and leave us out of it.Thank you, Captain Crintin Bock Regineh
