Synopsis
"I became blind to everything except the beautiful impressions of my imagination" Ennio recognises that beauty transcends artifice, and suddenly the world in which he finds himself is full of disaffecting and ill-fated people.
The Futile Years of Ennio Marozzo vividly evokes the challenges and mundanities of an unlucky life in 15th century Italy. It is set against a series of remarkable occurrences, from the arrival of the Byzantine Greeks in Italy and the birth of the Italian Renaissance, to the construction of an artificial mountain by the duke of Ferrara as a demonstration of his own magnificence.
