Synopsis
Excerpt from The Honourable James Thomason: Lieutenant-Governor N, -W. P., India, 1843-1853 A. D
A few years ago Sir Richard Temple published a biography of Mr. Thomason, and admirably has he discharged the task.1 But his Object was to write the life at large, rather than enter into the details of the north-western Provinces administration, as I have here endeavoured. His book therefore in no way super sedes the present review, which I submit for the accept ance of those interested in the government of India.
