Synopsis
Excerpt from The New Day in Housing
What could be of more vital concern to all public spirited citizens than the subject of decent, adequate housing? Chil dren are still being brought up in dark, ill-ventilated, over crowded, unsafe tenement houses and these structures are to be found not only in New York City but in many of the cities and small communities as well. The social ills and moral dangers consequent upon our neglect of housing have been ably presented by the courts dealing with juvenile offenders, by church, social and civic bodies of every kind. Our govern ment has been and will continue to be compelled to pay in the impaired vitality and health of a large part of its people for the failure in coming to grips with this situation on a large scale.
