He has published more than one hundred articles in professional journals and was featured in five textbooks. He worked as the social-studies consultant for Instructor, a widely circulated magazine for teachers, and as an editor of the Tennessee Association of Middle Schools Journal. Currently he resides in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he is a professor of education at the University of Tennessee.
