Excerpt from The Prospects for Building Construction in American Cities
Since the outbreak Of the war in 1914 a great Shortage Of building construction has been accumulating in this country. When war was declared, in the summer Of 1914, business was depressed and less than the normal amount Of new building was being done. In 1915 business recovery was under way and the amount Of building construction increased in that and the fol lowing year, but not in sufficient volume to meet current needs.
