Synopsis
Excerpt from The Races of Man, and Their Geographical Distribution
The situation of the great occipital foramen furnishesyet another most distinguishing feature. In the human head it is very near the middle of the basis of the skull, or, rather, speaking anatomically, it is situated immediately behind the middle transverse diameter; while in the full-grown chimpanzee it occupies the middle of the posterior third part of the base of the Skull.
