Synopses & Reviews
The Thread by Lizzy Lovely is a very unique children's book.
Each page is full of discovery as you follow the things The Thread makes with itself.
The full colour illustrations flow directly into each other and the text as one continuous line. Little fingers can follow The Thread on its self-made journey.
The Thread searches for a friend through different places by creating various methods of transport. It forms a bike, boat, train, car and plane before it eventually finds that it isn't alone. It meets bright colours in the air. This multicoloured, and happy rainbow has not been created by The Thread but it would love to be friends too.
The story is written in verse with a gentle rhythm to help young children and early readers to engage with the story.
"The Thread begins a tale to sew,
A quest to find a friend to know.
Stitched lines show where the Thread has been,
The things it made are to be seen.
A bike, car, boat and red steam train,
Then through the air ... an aeroplane.
Your finger traced along the Thread,
You can take part in what is read."
