How the heck do you cook in this country?
This International Bestselling "How-to" guide contains information about preparing food on a budget in Costa Rica.
Many people who move to Costa Rica or visit for long periods of time have asked us how to prepare meals, since eating in restaurants is not always an option. "Eating out" can get very expensive too. Many newcomers also have a hard time finding ingredients they are used to cooking with and many cost much more.
This cookbook provides a variety of simple recipes that are affordable, many of which are good for your health. Don't get us wrong, we like our fats and sweets as much as anyone; however, we have learned we feel better and eat cheaper when we prepare healthy meals and snacks. Not to mention our medical expenses have gone down, since our health has improved. A few "not so healthy" recipes are included as well, to help satisfy those cravings from time to time.
In Costa Rica, fruits and vegetables are plentiful and a few varieties some people from other regions may not recognize and may have no idea how to prepare.

How the heck do you cook in this country?
This was a problem from the time we landed. As I stood at the store converting colones to dollars I quickly became overwhelmed after looking at a small jar of peanut butter and realizing it was going to cost me $6.24 I turned around and looked at the bag of Doritos that I was going to put with the PB&J sandwiches and it took everything not to cry in the middle of the store. My conversion calculator displayed the price of the 7oz bag to be $4.13. I quickly realized that I was going to go broke just trying to feed my family.
That feeling did not stop as I made my way through the rest of the store converting the price on the foods. From strange fruit to extremely high prices on the food we were accustomed to in the US, Cooking in Costa Rica was going to prove to be a challenge. That night I sat down with my husband Steve talking about what we were going to do. We reminded each other that this was an adventure and it was going to take some work to figure it out, but the Page family was up to the challenge.
If you're struggling, you are not alone We had a huge outpouring from people having the same problems. But there is hope. Cut The Crap has once again come to the rescue. We have taken what we learned and put it in an International Bestselling book. We set out to learn how to cook in Costa Rica and we worked with the locals to learn how they cooked cheap. Since our goal was to get healthier while living in Costa Rica, we worked with the local doctors to learn how to cook healthy.
What we learned through this process was life-changing Not only did we find ways to cook cheap, but we also found that changing the ways we were eating and cooking had tremendous effects on our physical lives as well. In addition to the whole family losing weight, our cholesterol and blood pressure went down, and our energy level improved.
We not only give you recipes we answer questions for.
