SUNRISE
It is so simple to say
The sun rises in the east
When the sun is the sun rising
Rising above
The black line of the horizon
Entangled in eastern branches
Illuminating
Jets of light
Marking where the streets run into the river
And cars crowd upon cars
Swirling around each other
Until they too become a continuous glinting band
Cutting through the blue morning
