From Chapter Little Red Riding Hood
She thought it must be because her grandmother had a sore throat. The wolf tugged the bedclothes up as far as he could under his chin as Little Red Riding Hood pulled the bobbin and walked into her grandmother's cottage.
In the bed she saw someone wearing a shawl and nightcap. She was rather puzzled. Her grandmother seemed quite different. So she said,
"What big eyes you have, grandmother!"
"All the better to see you with!" said the wolf.
"What big ears you have, grandmother!"
"All the better to hear you with!" said the wolf.
"What big teeth you have, grandmother!"
"All the better to eat you with!" said the wolf and he sprang out of bed. He pounced on Little Red Riding Hood about to gobble her up.
Little Red Riding Hood screamed with fright. Luckily the woodcutters had just come out of the wood and were passing the cottage. They rushed inside and killed the wolf instantly. One of them then cut him open and out jumped the grandmother, who was feeling rather shaken by her adventure. However, she was delighted to see Little Red Riding Hood, who gave her the food she had bought in her basket and the bunch of flowers.
Little Red Riding Hood took care never to talk to wolves again, and she always stayed on the path whenever she went through the wood to visit her grandmother.
