About the Author
Writer Brian Michael Bendis was an unconventional choice to launch the revolutionary
Ultimate Spider-Man series for Marvel Comics. Well-known as the Eisner Award-winning writer of the
Jinx line of "crime-noir" comics for Image, Bendis had almost no prior experience writing superhero series. Yet he quickly proved himself to be a superb choice to helm the book: the combination of Bendis's trademark dialogue and realistic plotlines catapulted
Ultimate Spider-Man to critically acclaimed success, consistently placing in the top 10 comic books sold each month. Bendis lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife, Alisa, and two dogs, Buster and Schroeder.
Artist Mark Bagley's career began with an unusual twist as the winner of the legendary Marvel Try-Out Book. Bagley beat out thousands of other hopefuls to land his first professional assignments on Visionaries, a comic book based on an '80s toy line. Bagley's talent led him to a five-year run on the classic Amazing Spider-Man series, following in the footsteps of such greats as Steve Ditko, John Romita, and Todd McFarlane. Bagley also helped establish New Warriors and Thunderbolts as two long-running Marvel series. With Ultimate Spider-Man, he makes his return to what he professes as his favorite comic-book character of all time. Bagley frequently finds himself on Wizard magazine's list of top 10 artists, but his greatest fans are still his wife, Pattie, and his daughter, Angie.
