Synopsis
Interventions for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Understanding Diversity and Individual Differences coincides with the 23rd International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAPA) Congress in Prague, July 2018. This book examines the determinates of individual differences in children and young people, and the origins of maladjustment and psychiatric disorders. It addresses the ways in which interventions and mental health services can be developed and shaped to address the individual differences amongst children. Additional topics include the influence of economic adversities and gender differences on child development and the life course, as well as the range of risk and protective factors associated with the onset and persistence of problems.
Chapters dive deeper into anxiety disorders in infants, bipolar disorder, tics and Tourette's, and problems including antisocial behavior and medically unexplained symptoms. One section focuses on the potential for individualizing treatments as illustrated by pharmacogenomics, and another on the ways in which services can be adapted for specific environments such as addressing the needs of refugee children and systems of service delivery enhanced by using telemedicine
