Synopses & Reviews
Making money in today's stock market can be a difficult endeavor. While you may be able to hold your own against individual investorswho've become much more sophisticated and aggressive over the yearsbeating market professionals at their own game is a battle you'll rarely win, especially when these "experts" continue to enjoy the advantage of playing on an uneven financial field. But there just may be a way to beat this system and earn above-average or even extraordinary returns in the processand with Wall Street's Buried Treasure, author Harvey Houtkin will show you how.
Over the course of his successful financial career, Houtkin has seen how conventional Wall Street wisdom works against the average investor. That's why he recommends ignoring it. Instead, Houtkin suggests investing in securities that are not closely followed by the mainstream Wall Street community and therefore not as controlled by them. These forgotten, overlooked, and out-of-favor stockswhich are known as low-priced value stocks (LPVS)offer excellent opportunities to build significant wealth.
Through real-world examples and detailed discus-sions, Wall Street's Buried Treasure outlines the basis of this proven approach and reveals how you can effectively integrate it into your everyday investment activities. Page by page, Houtkin examines how to identify potential LPVS candidates, research the various criteria for selection, and commit capital to your choice. Along the way, he also addresses the importance of maintaining a diversified portfolio and staying within your risk and financial parameters. And by skillfully sharing his extensive experiences with LPVS, Houtkin offers invaluable insights into some of the potential obstacles associated with this type of investing, including getting in and out of thinly traded stocks, accumulating positions too quickly, and walking away from a good pick too soon.
Whether you're investing on your own or with the help of a trusted advisor, you need to follow a plan that allows you to avoid the games that Wall Street tends to play. With Wall Street's Buried Treasure, you'll discover how to realistically put a low-priced value strategy to work for you and achieve impressive returns from some of today's most underappreciated stocks.

Synopsis
Wall Street’s real treasure lies buried in the grossly undervalued and neglected securities that have been ignored and/or forgotten by the main street financial community. Fabulous opportunities exist for discovering hidden wealth, beyond an investor’s wildest expectations, by actively digging through the vast Wall Street arena. After a period of time, many public companies often fall out of favor, lose the Wall Street sponsorship, perform unimpressively, or for one reason or another fall in-between the cracks into a market abyss. The shares of these companies may very well find new life if and when unearthed and uncovered by astute “treasure hunters” (a.k.a., value investors). Once uncovered, these stocks can be worth many times the former value, and this type of treasure hunting does not even require an investor’s hands to get soiled. Today’s high speed information technology can help speed an investor’s way and create numerous “treasure maps” for them to follow. This book not only describes for investors how to uncover the potential treasures, but also how to cash in on their new found booty.
