Synopses & Reviews
One night in 1938, thousands of radio listeners were gripped by a wave of mass hysteria. The panic was caused by a dramatization of the sci-fi classic The War of the Worlds which was originally published in 1898. Narrated by Orson Welles, the frightening voice of The Shadow, the broadcast cleverly simulated a regular radio program by interrupting a fictional weather report for a news bulletin. Welles then narrated a grimly realistic account of invading Martians spreading death and destruction across the East Coast. In this version, Star Trek actors resurrect the breathless pace and too-convincing details of a thriller that remains unique in the history of radio.
