Synopsis
Excerpt from Wellesley College: Annual Reports, President and Treasurer, 1903
Another loss which the College has sustained came to it in Sep tember in the death of the Vice President of the Board of Trus tees, Rev. Alvah Hovey, of the Newton Theological Seminary. In Dr. Hovey the College has lost a friend who knew its history from the early beginnings, whose interest was always keen in everything that concerned the welfare of Wellesley, who brought a wide experience in other fields to the service of the College, and whose benignity and insight made him a wise and safe adviser.
