Synopsis
Excerpt from Weston's Guide-Book: And Souvenir of Cambridge
The first college buildings were erected in 1637, the state legislature granting the then large sum of 400 to found a school.
At this time the name of the town was changed to Cambridge, in recognition of the fact that many of the colonists had graduated from the English University of that name.
