About the Author
Poet, novelist, storyteller, and picture-book author JANE YOLEN has won four awards for her body of work in children's literature: the Regina Medal, the Kerlan Award, the Keene State Award, and the Boston Public Library's Literary Lights for Children Award. Her many books include
Owl Moon, which won the Caldecott Medal, and
Moon Ball. Jane lives in Hatfield, Massachusetts.
Her daughter, HEIDI ELISABET YOLEN STEMPLE, has worked as a parole officer and a private investigator and wrote Meet the Monsters with Jane Yolen. The two also collaborated on The Mary Celeste: An Unsolved Mystery from History. Heidi lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
ROGER ROTH has illustrated several books for children, including The Mary Celeste: An Unsolved Mystery from History, Fishing for Methuselah, and The Sign Painter's Dream, a Reading Rainbow book. His work has been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators and has appeared in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He lives in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
