Synopsis
The publication of the first editions of Workshop Statistics (as part of the FIPSE- and NSF-funded Workshop Mathematics Project at Dickinson College, PA) in its three versions established the texts as the most popular for courses stressing active learning in introductory statistics.
The Workshop pedagogy for teaching and learning introductory statistics is based on active student participation, emphasizing collaborative learning, the integration of technology to gather, record, and synthesize data, and asking student observation. Rather than passively attending lectures, the approach and format of Workshop Statistics encourage students to explore principles, apply techniques, and discover statistical concepts. Each text contains sufficient material for use as the main text in a course but is inexpensive enough to be added on as a lab component in some courses.
