Synopses & Reviews
This significant sample of work from one of the world's great yacht designers contains 41 chapters and more than 50 of William Garden's distinctive, salty designs for vessels that range from a 14' dory-style dinghy to a 106' brigantine, to an imaginary steam yacht, to high-tech motorsailers and motor yachts over 100'. In between are cutters, sloops, schooners and ketches, most of them traditional types. Accompanying the photographs and design drawings are the author's distinctive, salty comments on each boat and its background. William Garden's design work, produced in what he calls "a branch of Santa's Workshop for older boys", is a blend of charm and integrity -- and so is his writing.
