How could I say no to Powell's Books, when they offered to post a blog about my signing event?! No kidding, I LOVE your store! Here's the lowdown on the event:
The signing event is a pre-Stumptown party on Thursday, April 16th. What better reason to get to Portland a day early?
This signing event is more than just that; I'll be releasing a new art print, and Matt at Compound Gallery went all-out on the T-shirts and even got some funky new tote bags straight from Japan.
The image on the T-shirt is brand new: Techno Tako from my San Francisco show at Gallery 1988. Guys and girls can equally rock this bad boy!
Even though a lot of people know about my handbags, we'll be launching a tote bag here with Compound and that's a new product for me! I've never done totes before. Plus the news that they are from Japan makes my heart pop! I can't hide my adoration for the Japanese culture, hence why I raid the Manga section of every bookstore I go to. Without further ado, this is the image planned for the tote — Foxdoll:
The highlight of the night will be the High End Art Print. The print, called Rainbow Fingers, will be a limited edition! Rainbow Fingers is also new, from the Sweet Surrender show:
What other great stuff can I tell you about? Without doubt my Dark Horse journal and stationery set will be on hand, and I'll have other merchandise plus some of my own comic books, namely all six issues of BURN and also my self-published book, Tanpopo.
I'm proud to be re-releasing Tanpopo. The book is 40 pages, the plot thickens, and the ending leaves you wanting more. It will now be a series of stories, so you won't want to miss the first issue, though it is a self contained story on its own!
I can't say enough good things about Aaron Colter from Dark Horse, who has been an awesome event organizer! I can't wait for this event and for the weekend that will follow at Stumptown!
And for anyone who can't make it on Thursday, go to Compound Gallery during the weekend if you can, and get the clothing and print!!
Cheers ^__^
