I Love Dick, Chris Kraus's artful obsession with theorist Dick Hebdige, shatters about every category (and interpersonal boundary) out there in about the first five pages. But then she, "Dick," and the reader are left with a couple hundred pages to explore the contours of female debasement and obsession with masculine intellect — always with a laugh and a touch of '90s irony. I cringed more than just a little. But, really, Chris Kraus is superhero-brave.
