Seamstress of Acadie
by
Laura Frantz
Amazing book!
, January 09, 2024
Oh my! this story just wrapped me up, held me captive and stole a piece of my heart. The story begins describing Sylvie’s idyllic everyday life in Acadia. I could picture her close family and beautiful land and orchards. But soon her family and lands and future were no more. And this is where the story begins to get very hard to read. But Laura dealt with the events quickly but thoroughly. Events like what happened in Acadia are so important to know and learn from. I so appreciate Laura and her research and how she wrapped history into her story. This is an emotional story of tragedy, heartache and finding hope again. It is a story of love - love of family, of our home, of our intended and of God. There are so many things that I loved about this book. I decided just to list them or this review might go on forever. •I loved the French words and phrases, it added to the authenticity of the story. • Sylvie and Will both were such great characters, I cared about them equally. • Oh Bleu.! Throughout the book I kept wondering where he was, he was intriguing. He and Sylvie's love for each other and connection made me love him. •I appreciated the author's notes at the end that gave some books for further reading on Acadia which I plan to seek out. I was not ready for this book to end which makes this quote proven true. “The sweeter the moment, the faster it flees.” Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this story. The opinions are entirely my own.

Now or Never
by
Emily Conrad
Amazing book!
, April 22, 2023
Anyone who has read any of Emily Conrad’s Rhythms of Redemption series knows Tim. He is the manger for the Awestruck band, a single father who has not often been present in his daughter’s life. He is a great manger but a little rough around the edges. In this prequel novella, we finally get Tim’s story. We meet his daughter, Isabella, and learn that he indeed is a father tryin to make up for lost time and do the right thing. In Many Oaks, Iowa while on a road trip meant to strengthen their relationship they meet Gabby (a widow) and her daughter, Charity. During the week there Tim and Gabby learn some lessons in life and gain some hope for the future. This prequel is a great lead in to her next series, The Many Oaks Romances. Which is great as this story totally left me hanging and wanting to know what happens next. I liked that these characters are middle aged, a refreshing change from most Christian fiction. I love the way Emily writes so I know you won't be disappointed in Emily’s books. Her characters are realistic sometimes edgy with real and often deep issues. Her stories demonstrate how no matter the issues faced, God is the only real answer. She blends faith, life and love seamlessly. I received a complimentary copy but wasn't required to leave a positive review.

Once Upon a Winter Wonderland: A Deep Haven Christmas Anthology
by
Susan May Warren and Rachel D. Russell and Michelle Sass Aleckson
Amazing book!
, October 22, 2022
Such a fun and heart warming winter story! I was thrilled when I saw a chance to return to Deep Haven with Susan May Warren and her wonderful Sunrise team. And to be transported to snowy Deep Haven at Christmas time- exquisite! (It helped that I just happened to be in a cabin just a few hours away from northern Minnesota when I read it and it was snowing!!) This is such a unique story, really it’s four stories in one and written by four authors. Yet they fit together seamlessly. Wonderful job ladies! The main story revolves around Vivian and Boone’s wedding. Love them! But oh, Romeo and Stella, Bob and Marilyn and also Zuri and Duke. They all need their stories finished. This made me want to see what happens next with all of them too! And someday I hope one of the Sunrise books includes a map of Deep Haven! What fun that would be! If you want to get in the Christmas spirit, this is the book to help take you there. There’s even an ice castle! Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.

Out of the Night
by
Susan May Warren
Amazing book!
, August 30, 2022
Wow, what an incredible adventure, a thriller packed with spies, romance and evil international terrorists. Whew! I don’t know how Susan May Warren sleeps at night with all these dangerous images and scenarios whirling around in her head. I have read all the Montana Marshalls books before this one. But I decided to reread Ruby Jane before starting this one so I’d refreshed my memory and I’d definitely recommend doing that. So I already knew the back story of RJ and York and was more that ready to find out what they were doing next. Well, let me say, I lost patience with RJ. But I know Ms. Warren will get her straightened up in the next books. But I was still yelling at her in this one. And dear York had about all he could. “But you...you run after trouble like it might be a drug, And it slays me.” Ahhh, and York who only wants to go home and have some peace and quiet. Especially after all the trauma he’s been through. Will this couple ever get a ‘normal life’? I’ll have to keep reading this series to find out” The entire series of three comes out in August -Yea!! The one thing I did miss was the spiritual counsel and reflections from the previous books. But in this book York does yearn for the time when he his faith was fresh. Thank you to the author/publisher who provided an advanced copy to me. The opinions are entirely my own.

You'll Be Mine: A Hearts Bend Novel
by
Rachel Hauck and Mandy Boerma
Amazing book!
, August 20, 2022
Sometimes returning to the past opens a door to the future. I loved this skillfully written story with enjoyable characters that have some hard choices to make and priorities to decide. This is a story of two people on two very different paths in life who begin a journey that tugs them back and forth between what is and what could be. Ben and Cami’s jobs and their feelings for each other couldn’t possibly work out together – they were not even in near parts of the world. But God….. This is a great addition to the Heart’s Bend collection! Loved these bits of wisdom! Ben’s grandaddy: “ You can’t take I with you, but you can leave it behind.” “Marriage is simple. All you have to do is serve the other and not be selfish.” Ben’s daddy: Real faith is trusting in God when we can’t see a way through” Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for allowing me to read an early copy. The opinions are entirely my own.

One Fine Day: A Hearts Bend Novel
by
Rachel Hauck and Carrie Padgett
Amazing book!
, June 15, 2022
I love Rachel Hauck’s books and was thrilled to hear she was pairing with debut author Carrie Padgett for another book set in Heart’s Bend. This book is just as cute as can be but it also delves into some deeper life issues. Chloe LaRue, a pastry chef from Paris has returned home to be with her mom who is having some health problems. Sam Hardy has bought the pastry shop where Chloe is now working. He had no idea that she was back and working there. And they have a history from 10 years ago. Hmmm These two have a lot to overcome. But their journey is full of unexpected turns. And this story has a supernatural touch of God as in all of Rachel’s books. I always look for this in her books. It’s one of the things I love about her books. I think the cover is adorable and so spot on .... and I loved the unexpected happy ending! Thank you to the publisher for my complimentary copy. The opinions are entirely my own.

To Belong Together: A Contemporary Christian Romance
by
Emily Conrad
Amazing book!
, February 28, 2022
I absolutely loved To Bring you Back, the first in the Rhythms of Redemption series. And after reading it, I devoured the Awestruck Christmas Medley, which is the novella between these two books. To Belong Together is the second book in this series by Emily Conrad and a wonderful addition to the series! The band, Awestruck and it’s members are the central characters of this series. John, the drummer is a quiet introvert. He meets Erin, an extrovert who is an auto technician. Her family issues and insecurities keep her from believing that something could develop between her and John. But John is persistent even as he struggles with his fear of being used again. Then as they both experience trials and suffering, they bond as they find their common ground in faith. Emily Conrad writes a beautiful inspirational romance about finding our identity in Christ not our roles in life. I will be reading anything she writes from now on. Highly recommend to those who love to read Becky Wade, Courtney Walsh and Melissa Tagg I received an ARC from the author, but the opinions are entirely my own.

Hangin' by a Moment: A Deep Haven Novel
by
Susan May Warren and Andrea Christenson
Amazing book!
, September 14, 2021
I am loving these trips back to Deep Haven in this new collection. The new characters are quickly becoming old friends and I love seeing them again in the books along with the characters from the older books. This story is a journey for both characters to find their true paths in life. They are both searching for meaning and fresh starts. And both characters are so appealing. Jack is a former pararescue jumper looking for a second chance, family, belonging and a new life. Colleen is a nurse is looking for a fulfilling career and to escape her panic attacks and trauma of the past. This novel has some heart stopping action and intense moments. Working on a Crisis Response team is the real deal. It also has many lessons. One of which is that God knows our heart and His plans aren't changed by our bad experiences. He uses them through us to minister to others. God takes ordinary people and things and uses them. These Sunrise authors are the real deal. Their stories never miss a beat in taking me back to the beautiful little town on Lake Superior. The thing I love about the Deep Haven stories is that every novel demonstrates the importance of friends who are like family, who support and love you through trials and good times. It also shows how God shows His love to us through others, how he loves us no matter what we do. We can be forgiven. Thank you to the authors for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own. Recommended!

Since You've Been Gone
by
Tari Faris
Amazing book!
, August 23, 2021
I've loved Tari Faris since her first prequel novel, P.S. Goodbye and her first two books in the Restoring Heritage series, You Belong to Me and Until I Met You. Since You’ve Been Gone is the final book in this series. And it is a wonderful continuation and finishing touch to the stories of people in Heritage, Michigan. This book actually tells the stories of two couples, Jon and Leah and Madison and Colby. Since it had been a year since I’d read the previous novel, I had some trouble remembering the characters from past books and their histories. But I never forgot Otis, the traveling hippo and certainly enjoyed learning the secret of how he moves through town. I would recommend reading the books in this series closer together though so you can better see the big picture. For me, the lessons learned in this book were especially about being committed and not letting the past rule your future. Trusting that God knows best, letting Him have control and keep on at the task and not giving up when things aren’t perfect. He wants us to use our talents, that’s why He gave them to us. Tari has a wonderful way of writing clean, inspirational fiction. Her books flow and are easy to read. Always recommended! I received an ARC from the author and publisher but the opinions are entirely my own.

Since You've Been Gone
by
Tari Faris
Amazing book!
, August 23, 2021
I highly recommend this book! If you haven’t already, be sure to read first the prequel novella to the series (P.S. Goodbye), and the first two books (You Belong With Me and Until I Met You). These will give you a thorough introduction to the town of Heritage, Otis, and most of the characters you’ll meet in this new book. Faris’ characters are “real people,” dealing with grief and past mistakes, honoring heritage businesses passed down by loved ones, and relationships. What is love? What is trust? How to I avoid forgetting the loved ones who have passed away? Also, am I really hearing what the other person is saying, or have I interpreted it the wrong way? I had a hard time putting the book down, especially towards the end. There are plenty of unexpected plot twists that often left me in shock for a few pages. Since this is the end of the series, I thought Faris did a good job wrapping things up. I received an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book with no obligation to post a review

Then Came You: A Deep Haven Novel
by
Susan May Warren and Rachel D. Russell
Amazing book!
, August 19, 2021
Where do I begin? Oh Boone, Boone, Boone, Mr. Hottie is back! Boone’s forced vacation brings him to Deep Haven for a few weeks (he really doesn’t want to even be there) and by serendipity and he and Vivien end up in a parade in his red mustang! Wow! He hardly knew what hit him! A detective and an actress, an unlikely pair but maybe not. Vivien is such a fun character, so much so that Boone can’t resist her ‘happy’ persona. But he begins to see that she is hiding her real self behind her bubbly personality. Vivien’s play ‘Then came you’ is the centerpiece for this story. And a lot is going on here! These wonderful characters have such an adventure, there’s drama, mystery, stalking, disasters, role playing and serious life choices all happening over just a few weeks. It is the story of lessons learned about the expectations of others and those we place on ourselves. I recommend you read it and discover the fun and some great truths. Favorite quotes: “We can’t live by what’s supposed’ to be.” “You have to embrace the life you have, not the one you expected you’d have.” “Lord, you go before me and you are with me. You will never leave nor forsake me. I will not be afraid. I will not be discouraged.” Thank you to the authors for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.

Crazy for You: A Deep Haven Novel
by
Susan May Warren and Michelle Sass Aleckson
Amazing book!
, June 13, 2021
I truly loved Crazy for You, the third book in the Deep Haven Collection. This one really made me feel like I was in Deep Haven. I adored the characters, Ronnie was far from your typical female character. She was tough, as she had been in the Army and was often brusque, rude and had a wide streak of protectiveness for her brother, Tiago. Peter had the heart of a servant and was a peacemaker. I couldn’t help but love him. They both brought out qualities in the other that made them a better person. I loved the diversity in this book. The fact that some of the characters were Hispanic and the prejudices and things they had to overcome made the story more true to life. I also enjoyed the interactions with the couples from the two previous books. I recommend this book highly! I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the author but the opinions are entirely my own.

Can't Buy Me Love: A Deep Haven Novel
by
Andrea Christenson and Susan May Warren
Amazing book!
, March 18, 2021
I absolutely loved this amusing take on the Cinderella story by Andrea Christenson and Susan May Warren. It was so fun! Aptly named Can’t Buy Me Love, this story demonstrates the fact that ‘love cannot be bought’. Prince Charming, aka Adrian Vassos, rich businessman and “irresponsible playboy” and Ella Bradley, housekeeper and entrepreneur become trapped in an elevator together. From that point on, if they didn’t have bad luck, they wouldn’t have any at all! They seemed to keep running into each other! And running into trouble. “Prince Charming to the rescue, again, and she had to stop thinking that way. Right now. Because right now, Mr. Charming was also Adrian the Cat Burglar, and she was his accomplice. “ But as in all things, even what we see as bad, God can work for our good. And that “In our dark times, God shows up”. Both of these characters were searching for someone to belong to, a place to belong and a family. They find in God and in each other real happiness and purpose. Returning to Deep Haven and the Christiansen’s resort was a happy bonus! I really enjoyed how involved the Christiansen family was in this story. A great debut for Andrea! I recommend it highly!

Still the One: A Deep Haven Novel
by
Susan May Warren and Rachel D. Russell
Amazing book!
, January 13, 2021
“We may have, well, our lips may have possibly collided.” “What? Like your face fell and his lips caught yours?" “Stop. We were just - we were just caught up in the moment. You know, stress kissing.” Rachel D. Russell's debut book is wonderful! It is warm, humorous and about real life. This story stole my heart and took it back to Deep Haven, home to many of Susan May Warren’s books. You don’t have to have read Susan’s Deep Haven novels but I loved recognizing the friends mentioned. And it drew me more into the story, since I already felt like I knew this place and these people. Megan is a single mom who had been left by her parents and left by her son’s father. She has deep feelings of never being enough for anyone and is searching for a way to redeem her past mistakes. Cole and Megan were childhood best friends and he has just come back to town for a short time. He struggles with forgiveness. The things that happened to him when he lived in Deep Haven as a child still have a hold on him. I found myself pulling for both of them as they confront truths and overcome the hurts they’ve suffered in the past. I loved seeing how they both naturally try to support and protect the other’s dreams while sacrificing their own. Rachel Russell truly relates the message of the importance of keeping our eyes on God. I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. The opinions are my own.

by

Amazing book!
, August 23, 2020
I've loved Tari Faris since her first prequel novel, P.S. Goodbye and her first in the Restoring Heritage series, You Belong to Me. And Until I Met You is a wonderful continuation of the stories of people in Heritage, Michigan. This book actually tells the stories of two couples, Austin and Libby who are both new to Heritage and Nate and Olivia who live and work there. I remembered Nate as the pastor in the previous book so I felt like I knew him and was more anxious to hear his story. The theme of forgiveness is a huge part of this story. Austin really struggles with this, his anger and his need for perfection. Nate has a history of which he has not forgiven himself. And these two are brothers with a lot of other things going on in their lives! Tari has a wonderful way of writing clean, inspirational fiction. Her books flow and are easy to read. Recommended!

To Love A Prince
by
Rachel Hauck
Amazing book!
, August 19, 2020
I loved this book, it has such an engaging tone to it. I have not read many 'royal' romance books but I think this one surely has all the best elements that one could have. I had a little trouble at first believing that Lauchtenland was real enough but Rachel painted it wonderfully and I soon was all in. The Hand of God in the cliff was an especially beautiful metaphor. I could see it and feel how it would be to be enfolded in it. I loved that Daffy and Gus had been childhood friends. This gave them a good foundation to build on and a knowing of each other's lives that made their relationship deeper. And the themes in the story of forgiveness, second chances and secrets were dealt with graciously. Rachel added supernatural elements that are intriguing, especially Emmanuel and the blue dress. It was a delightful story...I recommend it!

Tate: The Montana Marshalls

Amazing book!

“ he was both dangerous and safe and exactly the man she’d waited for” Wow! This novel is so full of tension and suspense that I had to stop and catch my breath - often. I loved Knox and now I think I love Tate and wait - I also love Ford. These Marshall men are the bomb – literally! Susan May Warren masterfully layers love and suspense. Her heroes always fall hard and that love becomes their driving force. Tate is superbly written and filled with heart touching moments. Not only is this book about Tate and Glo but it pulls you in to Ford and Scarlett’s story. I recommend it highly! Now I can’t wait for Ford’s story!

Knox, Volume 1: The Montana Marshalls
by
Susan May Warren
Amazing book!
, March 22, 2019
Knox Marshall is the guy every girl wants – handsome, stable, hardworking and devoted. But he is “Tired of being the responsible one who did things right while others reached for their dreams”. Now he is falling in love with Kelsey Jones, a girl whose tragic past continues to color her world. Put them together, Knox comes alive and Kasey sees safety and security, “Knox, he felt like home, the soft place to land”. But Kelsey’s past and unrelated dangerous events combine to result in situations that could shatter their lives. This is a book that kept a smile on my face all while reading it. Not because it was all pleasant but because it was such a pleasure to read. It is such a well worded, well developed engaging story that flowed seamlessly. Susan May Warren’s writing is outstanding. And living in her stories is a wonderful place to be. I love how the story got back in touch with old friends from previous books. Oh Rafe, Max, Sam, Ben, Sierra, it was so good to see you again! Now that this book begins a new family series, I just want to savor each book. But this one ended in such a heart stopper, I am so anxious for the next one. So maybe I’ll reread this one – slowly. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
