I thought this was a good read from beginning to end. It has such an unexpected twist, I love books like this. It is an excellent thriller.

Books for Me

This is another fine Dennis Lehane novel featuring his usual blend of suspense, action and a startling conclusion. Shutter Island was a well researched piece of period fiction with great characters, an eerie setting and a chilling climax. I highly recommend this book.

Riveting. Even knowing how the story would end (unfortunately, I managed to catch only the last five minutes of the movie) I couldn't see it coming. When it got there, though, it all made sense. I think that even if I read this book a hundred times I would still miss any subtle clues that would lead me to the outcome.

This has a potentially interesting premise at its heart, but, gawd, the writing is plodding. There are much better books to read--so read those first!

I don't normally read detective novels but this one came highly recommended. I was not disappointed and had a difficult time putting it down. Two U.S. Rangers conducting an investigation on a remote island during a hurricane. Twists and turns throughout the book and an amazing ending. I'm planning to read more Lehane novels.

A thrilling period mystery set on an island in Boston Harbor during a hurricane. This novel was written by the author of Mystic River and Gone, Baby, Gone, and it certainly holds up to his previous works. Hollywood is making a movie out of this book, so hurry up and read it.
