Science, vengeance, high adventure, submarines, lost cities, battles with giant squid, and one of the most compelling and tragic characters in all of literature: the fascinating Captain Nemo. It seems that Jules Verne wrote the ultimate steam-punk novel in 1869. Sure, you'll hear plenty of buzz about stuff written to capture the excitement of the steam-punk aesthetic, and some of it's even pretty good, but this classic novel deserves your full attention as well.
