This comic does exactly what it says: kicks ass! I have always loved John Romita, Jr.'s distinctive art. He does ultra-violence so very well, and that's what this comic is: ultra-violent. But don't let that fool you into thinking that this is a shallow, vacuous tale for 12-year-olds. Written by Mark Millar, one of the premier comic writers of the recent comic age, Kick-Ass is the story of a teenager obsessed with comic books — and his attempt to become what he admires. The story is treated seriously, and is only violent because that's the nature of being a superhero. I love it and recommend it to comic fans of all kinds, especially those who like a good story and have a strong stomach.
