The beauty of a Lucas Davenport novel is that the author John Sandford never repeats himself.
Storm Prey is the 20th in this series, and it is as authentic and enjoyable as the first book,
Rules of Prey. Davenport is smart and cool; his team is at the top of their game, and the story gripping.
Storm Prey finds Lucas delving into the theft of pharmaceuticals from the hospital where his wife, Weather, works as a surgeon. Weather can identify one of the gang, and when her life is subsequently threatened, Lucas and his team rush to solve the crime before Weather becomes a victim. Soon Lucas and his team are tracking a lethal team of thieves while trying to keep Weather from becoming their next target.
Not as dark as some of his previous Prey novels, Storm Prey is still action packed and a great read. Not many authors can keep a series like this fresh and interesting, but Sandford manages to make it look easy — kind of like Davenport.
