Publisher Comments

For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort. Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well. And the Azkaban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, "He's at Hogwarts...he's at Hogwarts." Harry Potter isn't safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst.

About the Author

J.K. Rowling was a struggling single mother when she wrote the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, on scraps of paper at a local cafe. But her efforts soon paid off, as she received an unprecedented award from the Scottish Arts Council enabling her to finish the book. Since then, the debut novel has become an international phenomenon, garnering rave reviews and major awards, including the British Book Awards Chidren's Book of the Year and the Smarties Prize. Ms. Rowling lives in Edinburgh with her daughter.

During Harry's third year at Hogwarts, he finds himself a danger from an escapee from the wizard prison Azkaban. Will this dangerous man find him? Another fun book with some surprises that up the overall story.

This is my second favorite Harry Potter book. I've probably read this book about 3 or 4 times since 4th grade when I first read it. Like all the other Harry Potter books, it's really hard to put down; I can read it for hours and not get bored.

This was just as good as the other books in the series. It amazes me that J.K Rowling can think of such complex plot lines that always seem to fit together perfectly. It was wonderful!

Okay, I know that most people think that the 5th book is the best. But I have to disagree the third book is the best because, we get to meet all the characters that will become so important in the story in the later books. And my favorite characters, like Sirus Black and Lupin. All of the characters become closer and Harry finally has some family. It may just be that my favorite characters on front and center in this book, Ms. Rowling I'm still upset that you killed them off. Also it shows that Snape love Lilly. Its one of the best book in the last decade.

The Prisoner of Azkaban was the book that really got me in to the series. The first two were great too, but this book had so much detail that made you think that every character is important and might be hiding something. It's just a great book!

If you have not read the books start with the first, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Harry has something new to worry about this year at Hogwarts. In addition to his grades and his performance in Quidditch Harry has to worry about a mass murderer who has broken out of the top wizard prison. Sirius Black is considered one of the most evil wizards alive and the wizarding community is in a panic. Harry isn't too concerned, after all Hogwarts is the safest place on earth. Black wouldn't be able to break in, would he? The third Harry Potter book has always been my favorite and is (IMHO) the only one deserving of five stars. While J.K. Rowling has created what may possibly be the most amazing fantasy world since Tolkin and has come up with captivating characters, her writing often leaves a bit to be desired. No so in this book.

I never read the Harry Potter series, though I saw all the movies, right when they came out. All my friends told me to read them. I waited, saw the movies, loved them. Then finally this year, I came across the books in my library. I decided that I would finally read the Harry Potter series. The third movie was never my favorite, but i adored the third book. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite book in the series. I realized that they left so much out of the movie. I got the whole back story of James Potters friends. There is so much that they did not include in the movie. I loved reading this series and I seriously recommend reading this series, especially the third book.
