This book found me at exactly the right time and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. With a mug of tea and these essays in hand, my experience with this book was that of having a no-holds-barred conversation with an old friend I knew would never judge me. Philpott explores what it means to miss yourself, what it means to feel like you need an escape hatch, what it means to live with and recognize the hundreds of yous you've been, and... Can you get much better than a novel you can't put down that has beautiful cover art too?! Brit Bennett brings together a chorus of "Mothers" to share a wisdom that spans generations, boasting decades of collective experience. This novel shamelessly brings to light a variety of hot-button issues — abortion, infidelity, regret — without cliché, giving readers a peek into what it's like to go through the hard stuff. Autumn is a beautiful, lyrical work of prose that pulls at the heartstrings especially hard given our current political climate. It's a story of friendship, love, loss, memory, and interpretation — of what was, what could've been. It's a book that lends its perspective while simultaneously urging you to project your own. Smith is a master of words and word play, and you won't want to miss this brilliant work.Recommended by Carrie K.

This tome... (read more)Recommended by Carrie K.

This book celebrates friendship, hard work, passion,... (read more)Recommended by Carrie K.
This book broke my heart. Then it glued it back together. It tells the story of Elsa, an almost eight-year-old who is wise beyond her years, and her kick-ass grandma. Backman weaves a lyrical story about the magic of fairy tales and the timelessness of storytelling. You need this on your bookshelf!Recommended by Carrie K.
